(Before I begin I want to cover a few fine points:

1. Although I think little plush weapons are extremely adorable, I do not condone warfare. Wielding a real life plank and nail with the intent to impale someone with it is NOT COOL.

2. I know that Pterodactyl is a hard word to spell. P-T-E-R-O-D-A-C-T-Y-L. I apologize. I admire the perseverance of everyone who has visited this website, because they probably had to retype the web address a few times just to get here! I love you all for it. Bookmark me!)

The rest of this post is dedicated to the members of my plush family that have gone off to spread their loving warmth to friends and family all over the country. Perhaps someday there will be Pterodactyl Pants Plush living in every country in the world! I would like to introduce you to:

Baby Elephant – Adopted by Yauss (He drills her on her med-school flashcards. He is very knowledgeable about bones and things – his favorite is the Humerus!)

Cedric the Gnome – Adopted by Lana and moved to Cleveland (a marshy grove on the outskirts of Paris)

Snail – Adopted by my Momma, shipped off to Eugene, OR, and making new friends! (See below)

(I love this material, as you may have noticed.) This is a very Slithery Snake – Adopted by Cassie and toted off to North Carolina. I’m jealous!

It’s Worms! Adopted by Eliz, and living now in the Big Apple! How wonderful that must be for a worm.

Phew! That’s all for now, I need some sleep. For those of you who know about the cello, expect those pictures to be posted soon. That one needs a post unto itself, it was such an undertaking. I have other little creeps and creatures still un-introduced to everyone. They will be unveiled soon. I’ve done it! I’ve toiled, hunched over in my lab-o-ratory, much like Dr. Frankenstein, and here is the newest member of the pack:

The Plank and Nail Baby! This will be my first item for sale to the masses. (They’ll be in my Etsy shop soon if you’d like one of your own!) I enjoy making it so much, and I envision a whole line, in crazy colors and patterns. (Ian has suggested calling them Angry Mobbers, and Mini Mobbers and extending the line to include good, old- fashioned rioting mob accoutrements such as Torches, Pitchforks, Gnarled Clubs, that sort of thing.) Sound fun?

I am finally wrapping up a very big project – the Portabella Mushroom. (It is bella-ing, as in singing) It was commissioned and invented by a friend, and it was an exciting undertaking. Of course, as these things go, it didn’t come out the way I had envisioned but I am proud of it. It is my largest piece yet (Think the size of a throw  pillow) and it was difficult! This is the face, with the musical note resting on the mouth (the note fits inside the mouth-pocket).

And the Underbelly:

It’s soft and cuddly, and definitely invites one to take naps on it. And it’s done! (I think)

Upon completion of the Portabella, I needed a simpler project to recharge my batteries, and thus emerged this little guy:

A pretty quick and fun little creature – and so cute! I think there will be more of these to come.

This Dino is one of my latest creations, and the inspiration for it came from all over. It closely resembles a dino plush I had as a young kid, but it has some new twists. Ian suggested I give it a Tummy-Pocket, as in, an actual pouch inside the plush that one could put their entire hand in. So I did. It was pretty tough, take a look:

As you can see, we’ve stumbled across him in the middle of his dinner! Let’s sneak up for a closer look…

He’s eating a little man! Awesome. (This one is really fun, now that it’s all finished.)

(Looks like he’s got a tummy-ache, right?)

Since the inception of my plush-making craze, my creations have gone through a thorough evolution. For some reason, after I figured out the finer points of push making, my first few pieces had a distinct theme – weapons. I guess it was a phase, and one that I may revisit again soon. Here are a few of my plush weapons – original designs – much squishier than the real thing! (and lovingly referred to by others as plush nasties!)
The Plank and Nail – for rioting angry mobs driving various beasts, monsters, or witches from their villages. (This remains my favorite piece I have ever made)

The Spiky Ball – For throwing at your friends! (The first piece I made that was truly 3-D) The Hatchet-Wielding Goblin – He has a fuzzy belly, a shark-like smile, and he’s ready to chop!
