For some reason I thought it was spelled “anomale”.
This piece is the first tiny step in a new direction for me. It is the first, practice version of a piece I have designed to be much more grandiose, but don’t have the time to finish right now.

Imagine elaborate beadwork.

The rear view. I think I am going through a swirly phase right now. Let’s call it my “swirly period.”
(My high school doodles were all quite swirly, actually.)
(My college doodles were, too.)

A Swirly Anomaly Haiku:
In the cosmosphere
Of my imagination,
I snicker slowly.

Here’s a piece I did for the Department Show.
Back to work! (I have so much more to sew – and the clock is ticking!)

A bit romantic, isn’t it?

A Cherubic Haiku:
If you stand too close
I’ll pierce you through the heart with
Arrows of desire.

Well, the St. Louis Crammed Organisms trip was a real eye-opener. The caliber of work they had on display was impressive, to say the least. Some of the pieces I saw were so innovative, creative, and different, it made me reconsider my entire plush philosophy.
Here’s the bottom line: I am proud of what I’ve accomplished so far. I’ve come a long way in a short period of time. But I see now that there are many new levels of this art to explore, and I’m bursting with excitement to try them all!

There’s my Woodsman dead center. They inexplicably displayed him without his Axe. What good is a Woodsman without his Axe?!?

Here’s the window display at Subterranean Books – see anyone familiar?

My maggot gets the VIP window treatment! (And I like the little guy they’ve put on top of him, too.)
So what’s next for me? I’ve got TONS of work ahead of me preparing for the Department Show. I’m talking mass production. Then, at the end of July, there should be a little bit of time to experiment with some new ideas before getting ready for September’s Renegade Craft Show.
Busy!

Better known to you as the Clover Mite. Those tiny little red bugs you see everywhere come spring time. Rodamaur means “red ant” in Icelandic, apparently. I like it.

This little critter has seen better days, however. He can not, in fact, see anything at all!

The Gaping Maw:

Some fresh air:

A Predatorial Haiku:
My tummy rumbles.
You won’t hear me sneaking up
On my tippy toes.

By the way . . . I got in to the Pitchfork Depart-ment Show! Whooo! So, if you find yourself at the Pitchfork Music Fest in Chicago this summer, stop on by and buy some plush. (That means you, all you die-hard Public Enemy fans!)
