The Void

May 29th, 2009 by Jessie

Where have I been? In North Carolina, that’s where. I’ve been crazy busy – too busy even to make plush, which makes my soul hurt. And now I have the flu! Hang in there, plush fans, I anticipate getting back to my sewing machine on Sunday. Fingers crossed!

Here’s a barn that I saw nestled way out in the Carolina countryside. Is that a pink trailer?

Stay tuned for at least three more veggies, a bunch more of the mini escapes, mini maggots, a foamy pineapple, and much much more!

The Veggie-Mobile: Episode 3

May 19th, 2009 by Jessie

I absolutely love making potatoes. I think this is because the process involves making the piece as asymmetrical as possible.

potato1

It’s knobbly and knotty and dimply.

potato2

Some of you may remember the other potato I made, wayyyyy back when. For those of you who are going through haiku-withdrawl, here are the excellent lines I devised for that piece:

A Starchy Haiku:

I’ve been watching you.

And with my myriad eyes,

I see everything.

Another addition for my veggie mobile in the making. Stay tuned for more!

Veggie-Mobile: Episode 2

May 18th, 2009 by Jessie

Here’s veggie #2 for the Veggie-Mobile.

asparagus1

It’s Asparagus!

asparagus2

Perhaps a bit more colorful than your average asparagus spear – but much more beautiful!

What’s next?

Veggie Mobile – The Prequel

May 17th, 2009 by Jessie

Hello, plush fans! I’ve taken on a mobile project, once again for my much anticipated niece-to-be.

It’s not just any mobile – a veggie mobile!

Here’s what I’ve got so far:

eggplant1

It’s an eggplant.

eggplant3

More veggies to come. I’m thinking corn on the cob, potato, asparagus? Any suggestions welcome!

Now I have to figure out how to hang them!

Global Domination – one Haiku at a Time!

May 12th, 2009 by Jessie

Huge thanks again this month to all who submitted haikus to the contest! We had some great mud-inspired entries.

This month’s (randomly chosen) big winner of the Muckety-Muck is . . .

Tom!

Since Tom submitted two haikus, I have chosen my favorite for this piece.

I’m ancient and I’m
Slow. I’m encrusted in mud.
My eyes draw you in.

Congratulations! Your new, one of a kind plush will be on its way to you soon.

In other PterodactylPants news, I have been working on a bunch of new designs for my future-niece-to-be! She will have more handmade goodies than any newborn in the state of Oregon! Here’s a sneak peak:

robot-alien

Are you dying to know what it is? Well, you’ll have to wait until I can get some photos of it in some good sunlight – which in my apartment is almost impossible. This piece is way too big for my lightbox.

Speaking of maggots (aren’t I always?), one of my maggots will be featured in the upcoming issue of Stuffed Magazine! You can now preorder it here. Free shipping until May 25th. How exciting!

Lastly, I am in communications with a gallery in Cleveland that may soon be featuring PterodactylPants originals for sale in its brick and mortar store. What’s that? You don’t live in Cleveland? That’s ok! You can always find great things in my Etsy shop. More details to fllow as they unravel. Stay tuned!
