I have neglected you and I feel so . . . bad! I have been neglecting my sewing machine somewhat, too. What have I been up to, you ask? Well, I’m helping a friend out with his costume for the upcoming National Air Guitar Championships in DC next week. Yes, you read that correctly. Air Guitar.
I’ll be sure to post those pics next week.
I’ve got another custom piece in the works, too, which I am slowly getting started on. It’s a shame, too, because I am just bursting with new design ideas! Every day I’m scratching away on random bits of paper. There a million little plushies floating around in the ether that I am dying to make, but it’s not quite time yet. There should be some great new members of the PterodactylPants plush family in the coming months.
So, dear plush fans, I’ll leave you with this photo I took a few weeks ago in Cleveland – a city which may seem to be without many charms, but is actually quite beautiful.

That’s my bridesmaid bouquet from a friend’s wedding and a fountain in downtown Cleveland. Nice, right? Stay tuned for more plush soon – and don’t forget the haiku contest coming up on the 5th!

I am in between larger projects at the moment, so I decided to whip up this little guy last night.

Bubble Spawn

I had a bunch of new fabric that I got from one of my favorite Etsy shops (all the way from Japan!), and I wanted to show it off.
Hence the bubbles of beautiful fabric.
Some highlights:
A bumblebee

A little house

A sheep and a tree!

An Ephemeral Haiku:
I can’t be contained,
Amidst my lovely bubbles,
I’m effervescing!

This month’s Plushteam challenge is in honor of the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. While I myself was not alive in 1969, I was not at a loss for inspiration. I combed the inter-nets for photos, and was particularly inspired by those of the free-loving, mud-spattered, often bare-skinned attendees. So I made a pair of my own!

They are very much in love with each other, and they are quite the outdoorsy couple. They also “snap” together in a strategic spot.
A bit risque? Perhaps. It was the Sixties, after all!

Here they are in a sweet embrace.

A Groovy Haiku:
The fields of Woodstock
Reverberate with the love
Of muddy masses.

Art Whinos, that is. Check out this original PterodactylPants piece on display at the Art Whino Gallery in the Baltimore-DC area. It is a part of the outstanding plush show – Mortal Plush: I am not your toy. You can see more photos of the event, which will be on until August, here. There are many other Plushteam members proudly representing!

Sitting right there in the window – what a prestigious position! It looks like a truly awesome show. I wish I could see it in person!
In other PP news, (That’s short for PterodactylPants, by the way.) tonight is the night to announce July’s Haiku Contest winner!
And the lucky person is . . .
Lana!
Congratulations, the Little Piggy is all yours. Ejoy!

What could possibly be inside this mysterious (and beautifully handcrafted) sack?

Wait! I see something peeking out! Could it be . . . ?

A potato! Or two?!
Four potatoes?!

Indeed. All handmade without a pattern to ensure that they are one of a kind. I whipped up the bag, too, all by myself with some natural colored cotton/linen fabric I got at a fantastic thrift store in Eugene, OR. The buttons on the closure strings are some vintage leather numbers I picked up a huge yard sale/antique market/swap meet thingy I went to down at Soldier Field a few months ago. Quite an eclectic piece! Would you like it? Buy it here.
A starchy haiku:
No need for concern!
We are just snug as four spuds
In a burlap sack.

Don’t forget to get those haikus in for this month’s contest – you’ve got until Sunday at 7.
That adorable piglet could be yours! For free!
