Trans-Sylvanian

August 24th, 2009 by Jessie

No, it’s not really a vampire. It’s a hideous beast! Actually, this beast is quite adorable, if not a little cranky.

Meet the Dendrophobe!

dendrophobe1

Deeply terrified of trees.

Hence the stump:

dendrophobe2

Now, we here at PterodactylPants love and adore trees and do not condone chopping them down in any way. We appreciate trees in all forms, including leaning, swaying, stumped, gnarly, knotted, dead or dying, evergreen, sapling, leaf-less, or leaf-full.

This guy just prefers the stumps. He enjoys sitting on them. He enjoys that they are relatively closer to his stature.

An Arboreal Haiku:

Hay rides are dandy,

But please don’t ask me to join

in apple picking.

Stumped?

August 23rd, 2009 by Jessie

I have been hard at work! Yet, I have little to show for it at the moment. Here’s a sneak peak at a work in progress to let you know I haven’t dropped off the face.

(Of the Earth)

What could it be?

Whatever it is – it should be done and posted tomorrow night.

Making Headlines

August 17th, 2009 by Jessie

PterodactylPants has been creating quite a stir lately. What started as teeny ripples in the world wide web have become huge waves!

1. My beloved Etsy has featured one of my Maggots in a blog showcase recently. You can read the article here, entitled Keep it Weird, Etsy!: Animal Instinct. (Fitting, right?) Scroll down the the showcase at the bottom to see my Classic Maggot in Turtle Green.

2. Someone out there got wind of the Plushteam’s latest challenge – and has featured a PterodactylPants piece front and center! Check out Mr. X Stitch here!

3. Speaking of – voting is now open on the Plushteam’s Woodstock Challenge. Remember those muddy lovers I made? Go vote for them! Anyone can vote. Vote Vote Vote!

4. Lastly, you may recall that I was working on a costume for a friend of mine a few weeks ago. He rocked it at the US Air Guitar Championships in DC last week, and the costume looked GREAT! Here’s a photo of the illustrious Romeo Dance Cheetah.

Unfortunately, I can’t take credit for the whole ensemble. I can claim the furry leg warmers, the shoulder caps, and the crazy collar piece.

You can watch his entire performance below. Beware, though, Air Guitar is no joke!

So, I guess I can add costume maiden to my ever-growing repertoire. Do you need to look super awesome any time soon? I can help!

Dabbling in PterodactylPants Once Again

August 13th, 2009 by Jessie

And this month’s spectacular-Haiku-Contest-giveaway-winner is . . .

Marija Cilia!!! With this tasty tidbit:

I look lethargic
But you’ll find I’m wide awake…
If you disturb me!

It’s catchy and all too true. Don’t disturb sleepy fish! Congratulations, Marija! The Orange Roughy is all yours.

The rest of you will have to sit tight until next month for another chance to win a PterodactylPants original. (Or just take a stroll through my shop!) In the meantime, you can see more of me here. Dabbled.org has featured my Xbox controller.

And here:

That’s a photo of my brand new niece enjoying her custom-made plush veggie mobile! She is SO ADORABLE.

The Astraphobe

August 10th, 2009 by Jessie

From the snow-capped mountains of Scandinavia comes the small-yet-mighty Astraphobe.

Yes, he may have an unreasonable fear of thunder, but he makes up for it other ways.

thunder-monster-3

He has Super Snuggle Power – which means, when you cuddle with this little monster during a thunderstorm, he eats up all of your worries.

Those startling claps and bolts become a light show not more frightening than the Aurora Borealis.

thunder-monster-1

He proudly wears the thundercloud on his back to symbolize his special power.

It is rumored that the Astraphobe was once a close friend of the Norse Deity Thor, God of Thunder and many other things.

Did you know that Thursday is actually Thors’s-day? True!

A Stormy Haiku:

When storm clouds draw near,

Cuddle me close and I will

Eat up all your fear!

**Don’t forget the August Haiku Contest! Winner of the Orange Roughy will be chosen this Wednesday at 7 pm!**
