Breast Cancer Awareness Month

September 26th, 2009 by Jessie

Is coming up in October. My beloved Plushteam is participating in an inspired fundraiser for the cause. We are all chipping in, creating new and original plush pieces to promote breast cancer awareness. Here are some of the entries so far:

A Plush Deer in Pink from Emily at Follow the White Rabbit

a OoAKie from GreenStarStudio

The Boob Pillowcase from Christina Ward

Hope from Leeanna Butcher

A Pink Aphid from WeirdBugLady

The Venus of Willendorf from Zfla

Amazing, right? There are still more to come, since the deadline is October 1. All of these pieces will be available for purchase in the Plushteam Etsy shop after October 1. 80% of the proceeds go to the Susan G Komen Institute.

Ready to see mine?

The Breast Mace

Self explanatory, yes?

Join the fight against breast cancer.

A Good Thrushing.

September 20th, 2009 by Jessie

Well, Autumn is jut around the corner, and to celebrate, I present . . . the harbinger of Spring?!?

The Red-Breasted Robin.

I believe I have perfected my bird design by tweaking the wings just a bit from my recent canary.

These are smaller and softer, without any stuffing in them so they bend, flap, and flutter. This one doesn’t have any earthworm applique, so it’s a bit simpler all around – but just as adorable!

Do you like it?

A Puffed Up Haiku:

Happy by nature,

I sing all day because you’re

All glad to see me.

Kitten + Squid = Squitten!

September 16th, 2009 by Jessie

Here she is – the Calico Squitten.

This was a custom request from a very sweet guy who gave it to his girlfriend for her birthday. What a unique and thoughtful and bizarre gift, right?

I’m not going to lie. This was HARD TO MAKE. Would I do it again? Maybe!

A Curious Haiku:

While you lie sleeping

I’ll stalk you and pounce with my

Tentacles flailing!

I’ve begun getting ready for the holiday rush and craft show circuit, which means building up my inventory. Too bad for you there won’t be many new designs coming from me in the next few months. I’ll keep you all up to date, though – check back to watch the piles of plush build up all over my dining room!

Well, the winner of the final haiku contest of 2009 is . . . Merlin!

With this haiku:

My red, bloodshot eyes
Tell the tale of my sleepless,
blue eternity.

Congratulations, and well done, all!

Now take a look at the slimy, slithering little monster I’ve concocted:

Just another juicy treat available in my Etsy Shop!

An Amphibious Haiku:

Please don’t step on me.

I may be small and slippery

But I’m your best friend!
